She’s right, that the main reason audiences feel connected to ‘A Quiet Place’ is because they care deeply about the Abbotts, and want them to survive. However, on the same question for John Krasinski, who has both written and directed both the original film and this new sequel, we hear a different story. This shows that he’s invested in the details of the character’s origins, and that helps push the plot forward.
“It’s really important. I think what I found most interesting after the first movie, is what people are excited to learn more about, just like what I want to learn and develop. I love reading people’s thoughts like “Who’s on the other end of the fire?” and, “What if you had to live in a world like this, if it weren’t for the Abbott family?” And then “Where do these creatures come from?” And so I know that if I go on to the second part, the way I want to show where these creatures come from is, again, to piece together the information in the film. Because I think in that moment, what makes it so horrible is that you don’t have all the plot details behind it.”
