  • Excellent Historic Depiction of the Atomic Bomb

I watched the TV series when it was available on iTunes. My wife and I enjoyed the show and were very disappointed when the series ended at series 1. Today (September 14, 2018) we visited Los Alamos Bradbury Museum which piqued my interest to re-watch the TV series.

It might not have been the most accurate show but it definitely was worth the watch! I really enjoyed watching the show and would recommend it to anyone who likes drama, a little bit of history and some sex in their show. All characters are played very well. 5 Stars from me.

Can’t wait for Season 2. As another reviewer said, one of the few shows my wife and I enjoy equally. Of particular pertinence to me since my uncle was a member of the top-secret Alsos mission during WWII to discover how far along the Nazis were with development of their own A bomb, along with chemical and biological weapons.

I am on pins and needles waiting for Season 2. I can't imagine that it could get stretched out much longer! This is one of the best TV shows and that it was filmed in my hometown is wonderful to watch all the way out here now in LA. Breaking Bad too had a great story line and cinematography however Breaking Bad ended horribly with a disappointing let down for all its seasons only to flub in its last three episodes. I hope Manhattan doesn't end up in a fizzle but in a Big Bang!

I usually find TV so predictible & hate watching most shows. Manh(A)ttan explores the other side of War. Those who prepare and how it affects the environment and touch the inside out of their lives individually & as a group of people who wanted to the best only to end the lives of others - we see with and without their souls. I only hope that SEASON 2 is forthcoming as it has happened a few times a sensational well written show just ends - I guess the writers just quit, please pay them to keep writing this script is A+

Though I agree with another review that some of the sub-plots feel extraneous and like they are reaching for the sensational, I love this series. The story deals with the paradox of beautiful science dealing terrible death. It reaches into a time of American and world history that, at least in my experience, is seldom talked about or taught in schools. Even though I know the outcome of the arms race it still has me on the edge of my seat. Great actors, mostly great scripts. Bravo!
  • Don't expect a "documentary" here.

I could forgive this show for its near-total omission of factual details, but worse - far worse - this is just a soap opera pinned on the skeleton of fact; the real Manhattan Project story is barely represented here. Robert Oppenheimer is reduced to a figure head in the story and Leslie Groves is barely mentioned! Don't expect to learn anything about what happened during this terrifying and remarkable period in wartime engineering. I feel bad for the people who assume they are learning anything about Los Alamos from this "All My Children In The Desert" bit of glossed fiction.

This was one of my favorite shows over this past summer and I was thrilled to hear it was renewed for season 2. The characters are fascinating and the show has lots of twists and turns that make it a must watch. It is not meant to be a historical documentary, but rather a period piece with fictional characters set against the backdrop of a true event. Many of those giving it a bad review are unable to separate the show from their own views on that event itself. Whether you agree with the event or not, the show itself is fantastic.
