Description

From creator and writer Sam Shaw (“Masters of Sex”) and Emmy® Award-¬‐winning director Thomas Schlamme (“The West Wing”), the second season of the critically acclaimed and Emmy®- winning original drama series MANHATTAN follows the tangled lives of the residents of Los Alamos, New Mexico as they race to create the first nuclear bomb in history. Locked away in the world's most secretive city, the scientists and their families surrender their freedoms, compromise their marriages, and even sacrifice their sanity to end one war and usher in another — the Cold War waiting just over the atomic horizon — all while embedded spies and a climate of paranoia threaten to destroy the project from within.

Reviews

  • First Season Far Better

When this show first came out it was very entertaining. However, season 2 has been quite a disappointment. Although even in the first season about the only accurate thing about the show was that there was in fact, a Manhatten Project, season 2 really seems to be going off with ridiculous conspiracy theories and melodrama to the extreme. It's lost a lot of its uniqueness that it had going in season 1 to be another cookie-cutter over-the-top tv drama. Overall, it's an okay show. And personally, I've invested too much time into it now to not finish the last few episodes (season 2 will be it most likely).

It is ok. I have to agree with other reviewer tho, it is missing alot of facts and is more of a melodrama. That being said, i do watch it.
  • More disappointing with every episode

Abandoning 90% of the facts, this story instead chooses to embrace an All My Children model and just make it up as they go. Melodramatic crap, honesty. Anyone hoping to find the real Manhattan Project story here is going to come away confused and grossly misinformed. This is a tragic mess.

I don't know how they managed to mangle such an amazing opportunity, but this production team took one of the most potent periods in U.S. history and filtered out everything exciting. All that remains is a tedious, predictable melodrama. After suffering through season one on Hulu, I bought the first ep of S2 here, in hopes that they'd turned it around... Not even slightly-- same old schtick. I won't even finish it on Netflix.

I'm not a fan of television in general, but I love this show! It has more twists and turns in the plot to keep me guessing, the filming location, acting, and script are all great. I enjoy the science sprinkled in. My kind of show!
