Description

In the great tradition of Warner Bros. Pictures’ iconic Westerns, Horizon: An American Saga explores the lure of the Old West and how it was won— and lost—through the blood, sweat and tears of many. Spanning the four years of the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865, Kevin Costner’s ambitious cinematic adventure will take audiences on an emotional journey across a country at war with itself, experienced through the lens of families, friends and foes all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America.

Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 presents well-defined and engaging characters, including an ambiguous leave-me-alone protagonist, a lethal range of villains and a damsel in distress. Yes, it's a long film, however the rich stories, sharp editing, fine script, assured directing and wonderful cinematographic eye candy carry their weight with aplomb. I can hardly wait to see how separate storylines continue to cross in Chapter 2, and It will be tragic if Costner can't see this project through as he intended. Haven't critics forgiven Costner for his youthful misfires yet? Maybe it's just too much fun punching down for the reminiscing.

Don’t listen to the naysayers and negative critics. Buy Horizon now and gift the film, as well as the beautiful score, to your friends as presents over the holidays. Can’t wait to watch the upcoming chapters and see all the dots connect. Keep up the great work on this western epic Kevin.

I went with friends and without preconceived notions. Little depth of characters and dry. I termed this the Gone with the Wind westward expansion. After 3 hours I felt like Rhett... frankly my dear, I don't give a da**. Yes the scenary was beautiful. The acting was good. The transitions to many story plots and little time developing individual characters did not allow for connecting with the film.

I am a huge K. Costner fan but this one is pointless, what a total disappointment. A waste of my time and not to mention $20 bucks, after two hours I did not hang around to even watch the ending....don't waste your time or money on this one!!
