Description

Twist of Faith, an Original Movie on Lifetime®, is a cross-cultural, music infused love story. Jacob Fisher (David Julian Hirsh), an Orthodox Jewish Cantor and amateur songwriter from Brooklyn, is bereft after the senseless murder of his wife and children. Catatonic, he walks out on his Jewish mourning ritual, leaving behind his Jewish garments, wallet and keys. He abandons his identity and wanders aimlessly, hoping to somehow understand his tragedy. He lands in Brent, Alabama (population 2,500), where he is embraced by Nina (Toni Braxton), a single mother and gospel choir lead singer and her Uncle Moe (Mykelti Williamson). With their help and that of the gospel community, Jacob is able to make sense of his past and learns to live his life again.

I watched this movie on lifetime Tv at least six times. While the premise of the movie is implausible, it nonetheless is a very touching love story. Being a Christian, I really liked the biblical references, hymns and Gospel songs. Toni Braxton (Nina) did a fairly good acting job, however her singing was incredible. David Julian Hirsch was totally amazing as Jacob, a man who loses his family so unexpectedly and tragically you wonder how he could have survived such a loss much less find happiness in the most unlikely place. Mykelti Williamson was great and the young actor who played Nina's son Asher, stole my heart. The movie will definitely inspire you to embrace your faith as well as the ones you love.
