Description

Using the same experiential approach to storytelling as WWII in HD, HISTORY gives these veterans a voice. Through a collection of color Vietnam footage never seen by the public from private collections, museums, the U.S. government, veterans and news organizations as well as sources from Vietnam, they tell their stories and relive their struggles, courage and fears. This six-hour miniseries spans the massive initial troop build-up in 1965 to the fall of Saigon a decade later. Sound design builds on popular music from that era to powerfully evoke their experience.

    i like the military history i like both is vietnam or world war 2. but now this show has some of the violent scenes from the vietnam archives. and its a good one to know when the vietnam was remembered during the event.

    This is an exceptional documentary. There are many documentaries about the war in Vietnam, but this one has some unique angles that are often missed by other projects. My only wish would be a follow up series that goes into even more detail.

    Ignore EnjaySea. This film is one of the most powerful documentaries I have seen in my life. I haved learned much more from this documentary than I ever did in eight years of schooling. I am going to force my descendants to watch this, it is incredible. HOWEVER, it is NOT for the faint of heart.

    I couldn't make it past the 10 minute mark in this unforgivable production. Let's be clear here folks, and I hope the obviously young filmmakers who worked on this project hear this loud and clear. You cannot and must not ever stretch 4:3 content out to wide-screen 16:9! Yes, you've seen other low-quality film production companies do the same thing, because they thought it was okay, because they saw other people doing it. They were wrong -- you were wrong. 100 years of filmmaking, and not until this decade have people dared to assume that viewers were so unsophisticated and ignorant, that they would consider warping the image of a movie so that it fit an aspect ratio, as even remotely acceptable.

    I love learning About Vietnam and my teacher played it for me and I loved it it had all the action of the Vietnam war very detailed it's great

    The very first time I saw this series was when it aired on TV. After it was over, I just stared. Not at anything, I just looked out in disbelief. I knew it was a senseless war, I guess I just didn't really understand until now. For at least a few days, it was the only thing I could talk about. My friend thought it had even given me mental trauma. When I discovered it was on iTunes, I immediately bought as many episodes as I could (only 3). Thank you history channel for making this eye opener of a documentary, and I salute the vets of these over 10 years of hell, like my uncle.

    I think they did pretty good with telling the story of the Vietnam war from pre-war era through the end. I not only learned a lot but was able get perspective from those that have actually lived it. I did feel that the series was extremely short for such a long war and could've included much more detail in its telling of the story. This should've been at least a twenty episode series but instead it seemed more like a quick look over the war. It was still well done and definitely worth buying.

    Having spent the last 43 years unable to put my tour of duty behind me, I am encouraged that someone without an agenda has put together a clear picture of what those years were like for all Americans. We were all swept up in a crazy, insane circumstance that resulted in a very unhappy ending for everyone. Talking about my year in Vietnam is like discussing some crazy dream. No one wants to hear it. We all suffered from that misadventure. Well intended, but doomed from the beginning.

    The first comprehensive on-the-ground documentary of the war I've seen.The footage is raw and shocking. Nicely pairs the events at home with the events abroad, and how each influenced the tide of the war. A must see.

    Best coverage of the war from start to finish. As a draftee, opposed to our involvement, this series caused me to re-evaluate my entire perspective. A must see before or after you visit The Wall in DC. Proud of all our vets.
