Description

Prepare for comedy that is fast, funny and completely out of control! This innovative HBO comedy series starring Bob Odenkirk and David Cross seamlessly fuses live routines with filmed material. In Season One, Odenkirk and Cross portray a variety of loosely connected characters, each of whom flow effortlessly from one sketch to another. There's a customer (Odenkirk) whose attempt to change a dollar at a grocery store results in a bizarre chain-of-command telephone call initiated by the clerk (Cross); a crook (Cross) who becomes a celebrity after exposure on a "cop-doc" show; a spoof of the O.J. trial in which the Pope (Odenkirk) faces testimony about a "bloody ring" (which he could only slip on half way); a high-seas gay porn film that ends up being re-edited as a scene with a honeymooning couple and their "third wheel" friend; and much more.

I'm sorry, but this show is just awful. That's hard for me to say because I'm crazy about Bob Odenkirk. But the first two episodes of this show are painful, awful, and not even amusing. Seriously, don't waste your money on this turkey.
  • The Greatest Sketch Comedy Series Ever.

With Mr. Show, Bob Odenkirk and David Cross set out to create an American series that equalled Monty Python's Flying Circus. They failed. Instead, they created a series that swiftly exceeded it, as well as every sketch comedy series ever made. The genius of Mr. Show lies within it's ability to harshly satirize culture and tradition, while still remaining completely bizarre and irreverent. The series still retains a primarily underground status, which is surprising considering the talent that got it's start on the show: Tom Kenny (Spongebob), Jack Black, Sarah Silverman, and many others who are viewed as comedy gods today. Hopefully, iTunes selling the show (for incredibly cheap!) will finally help it break out of it's underground status, and finally silence those who say shows like So Random! and MADTV are the best sketch shows ever.
