Description

Bravo’s latest stroke on the reality canvas brings Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Sarah Jessica Parker and her production company, Pretty Matches, together with the Emmy-nominated Magical Elves (Top Chef, Project Runway) and Eli Holzman, to produce Work of Art: The Next Great Artist, an hour long creative competition series among contemporary artists. In each episode, contestants are faced with the challenge of creating unique pieces in a variety of mediums such as painting, sculpture, photography, collage and industrial design. The weekly assignments are exciting, original and will challenge the artists to push the limits of their technical skills and creative boundaries. Completed works of art will be appraised by our panel of top art world figures alongside a new celebrated guest judge every week. Through a gallery showing at the end of each challenge, these industry select dictate which artists have successfully mastered the subject matter and creation of their piece, as well as whose concept leaves the greatest impact.

  • My #1 favorite reality show of all time

Unfortunately I guess they cancelled this show, but I adored every moment of both seasons. I’m an artist, so that’s a big part of why I loved it, but it’s great. Don’t hesitate to buy the whole season. It’s fantastic.

the problem with this show is that all the artists involved are extremely mediocre artists, at best. They did a show at a children's museum for example, and everything by the children completely out-shined the contestant's boring, uncreative work. This show is a disaster.

Being a huge fan of Project Runway and Top Chef, I was purchased a Season Pass of this serious out of pure curiosity. After the second episode, I was hooked. Many of the characters are relatable and likeable, and the challenges are entertaining even for those of us that are not artist. There are bizaar and strange people and pieces, but that is part of the formula for great reality television. I will agree with another reviewer in that the judges do seem to play favorites and over look when an artist ignores the challenge topics if the outcome is worthy. This also occurs on other shows such as Top Chef (Alex anyone?), and I didn't find it to terribly distracting. The series does build to the finale, which was the best episode of the series. The show does include a mentor, but Renee isn't as strong of a mentor as Tim or Tom, but there is potential there. All and all, I found Work of Art to be pleasing television with some thought provoking pieces. It is worth the cost.

There were times I thought I'd give up on this series. The group challenges were a drag, fostering more conflict than art and I hated to see the artists I liked best getting eliminated. Then it was worth it at the end to see who the winner turned out to be -- the most talented AND the nicest of the bunch. It's a fairly good extrapolation of the Project Runway format, a show which I absolutely adore.

This show was absolutely great. Loved looking at all the art. The only thing that was a little bothersome was MYLES and his acting-role playing. The other contestants where right in calling him out on that. Besides that, I enjoyed every second.

First reality show that interested me in the least. It's a very real an positive glipse at so many elements of the art world. Great selection of contestants and excellent content used in the show. Refreshing and most of all inspiring,

I am an artist, and I know a lot of artists who have a problem with this show for one reason or another. I think that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. The benefits are bringing art to a much larger audience. I don't know too many people who go to galleries on a regular basis. Critics might argue that making art more mass market might "taint" it for one reason or another. I think this is possible, but I would personally like my art to be able to reach a larger audience -and I think this show might bring art to a larger public.

I have multiple Season Passes with iTunes, and the episodes are frequently not available to download at the same time that everyone else can buy the single episodes. 1. The Season Pass often gives no great discount on many TV shows. 2. If you have a Season Pass, iTunes will literally PREVENT you from purchasing a single episode because your "season pass episode" isn't "available". 3. iTunes has no troubleshooting page for this, takes on average 3 - 4 days to respond to the problem, and will do nothing to compensate you for your loss. 4. I want to see these excrement hurlers as soon as all the other iTunes customers. I don't have a TV and I don't illegally download. iTunes has it set up so that customers who spend MORE money get an inferior product. Do what you will with this information.
