    Aaah, when I was 8 years I loved that. But looking at that now... the animation is terrible xD. But still, it’s smurftastic!

    I remember back when this cartoon first came out - I didn’t have anything against it, but I hadn’t really planned to take time to watch its debut either, but when I visited my aunt that Saturday morning the TV was on over there and I wound up watching the pilot episode by accident. I was both shocked and delighted at how unpretentious it was and its natural charm, right down to the touchingly affective music in the closing credits (you have to remember that that tune was brand new, plus in those credits it was played in a traditional celtic style, which added to the believability medieval fairy tale atmosphere of the show). Suddenly, fans of hobbits, Dungeons & Dragons, and The Lord of The Rings had a new fave to add to their library. ;) I was in love with the Smurfs even if their later seasons couldn’t always keep up the quality of the first two seasons. It’s still touching to think that the entire decade of the 80s began and ended with that show. (It would have been nice to have a proper finale, but oh well...) Which brings me to my big question: where is Season 2? The first two seasons were easily the best, but Season 2 is the only one I don’t see here! Only a couple of its episodes are scattered in three other Smurf collections. We really need a proper Season 2 release!

    Smurfs will always have a warm spot in my heart cuz I couldn’t do Saturday morning (back in the 80s) without it. As I got my bowl of cereal and settled for the next hour uninterrupted. Every episode is a gem. I’m an adult now and I still watch it on Cable when I can. Now I have the DVD and I can watch it whenever I want.
