Brought from Atlanta to head up a special unit of the LAPD that handles sensitive, high-profile murder cases, Brenda is tapped to lead the team because she's a world-class interrogator, and when it comes to obtaining confessions, she's a closer. But her quirky attitude and hard-nosed approach to her job sometimes rub her colleagues the wrong way, as does the fact that she's a tough-minded Southern woman in a department dominated by men. The series also stars J.K. Simmons (Spider-Man movies), Corey Reynolds (The Terminal), Robert Gossett (Arlington Road), and G.W. Bailey (Police Academy movies).

    The Closer would be just another police show except Kyra Sedgewick brings light to a different type of police chief. With her southern twang and her intentional politeness, Sedgewick manipulates suspects and coworkers. It's great fun just to watch her.

    I watched all the seasons of The Closer when it was on originally. Now I watch the reruns when they're on. The best thing is that I've just purchased the first three seasons so I can sit and get my Closer fix! Kyra is so terrific I've run out of words to describe her. What's great about this cast is that they are all excellent in their rolls. They play off each other beautifully. The show is great, the stories are interesting and the characters are great too! Love, love, love this show and Miss Kyra!

    Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson (love the sheer LENGTH of her name!!) is the best cop on tv! Whenever I see an interrogation scene on any other show... be it Law and Order SVU or Criminal Minds or Whatever... I am always thinking Chief Johnson would do it better than any of them! This series has an excellent cast and is very well written. Ok my favorite part is Kyra Sedgwick she is a bad a@#!

    This is hands-down my favorite show. Has been for 6 years now. But come on, you are totally gypping us by cutting this season down by 33%. The other seasons have had 15 episodes, which isn't exactly overkill in itself. Now we get 10 shows for the whole season! Really? Come on Warner Bro's, pony up and lets have a real season!

    I loved this show from its' first episode. It holds your attention from the start. My own work overlaps with some of the plots, and they're well researched. It's great to see a realistic female main character in a tough, exciting job. Brenda is flawed, but brilliant and funny and capable, in a powerful job. The show reflects the real life hassles a woman like Brenda would face and have to overcome. She plays a quirky but admirable woman, and in many ways Brenda is one of Hollywood's best female role models. Plus, the sub-plots with the characters, her love life & family, and the cases themselves, are ENTERTAINING.

    What a refreshing tv show. So many cop shows and legal shows that they all seem to be the same. Not The Closer! It's all about the acting. And it's not your everyday acting. Kyra Sedgwick as Dep. Chief Brenda Johnson, is exceptional. This is what acting is supposed to be. If you've never seen Sedgwick in any other performance, you have to check her out in films like Phenomenom, Something to Talk About, Secondhand Lions - then you'll see why she's wonderful. She knows how to play a character. The relationship all the characters in The Closer have is refreshing. Jon Tenney is adorable as the chief's fiancee. J. K. Simmons and G.W. Bailey are standouts. Actually, all the characters that are part of Brenda's team are wonderfully played. Every week is entertaining. Finally, something that breaks the mold!
