Lucha Underground, Season 1

Buy This Now!!!! This is the best wrestling promotion / product you can possibly watch right now period. I was trying to get back into wrestling since I lost interest after the end of the Attitude era. I tried watching RAW a few times recently and felt that while some of the wrestlers seem to be very talented, the creative aspect of it is not very good, at least not good enough to get my attention as a fan like I was in late 90's -early 2000's. So I decided to look around for other wrestling shows on YouTube and google. Fortunately for me I found a show called Lucha Underground that I just can't say enough good things about. After watching a couple of matches I knew I had to support this product so I bought the full season 1 on iTunes on have been hooked on it like crazy. The excitement for wrestling is back for me. Here is what I love about Lucha Underground: The roster is extremely impressive from top to bottom. These guys and gals all are top notch wrestlers and know how to entertain. This show takes the traditional Mexican Lucha Libre Style and brings it to you in a way that I am not sure has been done before. There is fusion of different styles here but the high flying masked warriors are always there bringing action and pure entertainment. You got wrestlers not just from Mexico but also from different places and styles. LU seems to embrace that diversity and the result is explosive entertainment that you can't stop watching. Then you have the production values that are through the roof here. The promos and background stories are presented like a tv show with well written dialogue / characters and crazy action scenes. The wrestling takes place in "The Temple" which basically looks like a grimy warehouse in the hood. The smaller crowd vs other shows actually helps here because it makes everything feel much tighter and more organic. The lighting throughout the matches is fantastic and reminds me of watching a top notch play in a dark theatre with spot lights that are always where they need to be to help tell the story. The camera work is beautiful with tons of different angles going back and forth and it really feels like you are being taken on a ride. It really makes the matches look even more dynamic. The actual format of the show is perfect with 40-45 minutes of quality content per episode and it doesn't have a ton of filler like you would have with 3 hour episodes of RAW. It's just tight, compact, highly concentrated top quality stuff with Lucha Underground. I am glad this product exists. I am glad the people behind this project took the risk of doing something different from everyone else and it really shows in the content. I hope this continues and I am now a fan and will support this any way I can. If you are considering getting this, stop thinking and buy it now.

Game of what? Breaking who? Don't write it off as just a wrestling show, it's better written than most other dramas.

Best writers, producers, wrestlers, lucha libre action. I can honestly say they made me a wrestling fan again. It's completely fresh & different. I love it! The storylines and characters are awesome. 👌🏻

It started out slow but by episode 7 i was hooked. Great wrestling, amazing cut scenes and amazing product all around.

I’ve heard the hype around Lucha Underground for over a year, but I can’t get the El Rey Network through Verizon. So when I learned last week that it’s finally reached somewhere I can view it, I went and bought the entire first season. Once I’m done watching it (it’s been about a week and I’ve seen 14 of the 39 episodes), I plan to buy Season 2. Not only is it a very good wrestling show, it’s the flat-out coolest wrestling show on TV in how it’s presented. The story-telling has been quite strong so far, as well as cinematic in a way nothing else is, and a lot of the matches have been fantastic, featuring some of the coolest (and coolest-looking) characters around. Gracias El Rey, Lucha Underground, and all involved!

Happy to buy the show in HD after watching the first season on El Rey. The first episode battle between Johnny Mundo and Prince Puma alone is worth my $45, and the season only got better from there!
