  • I Mean...it’s Dangan...

That’s the only positive thing about this adaptation. Please, play the game instead. Some who are new to the series might enjoy it, but I’ve been a Dangan fan for almost a year now, and I must say that I’m severely disappointed. If you do decide to watch the anime, please watch the Japanese version. It has the same VAs from the Japanese dub of the game. The English version changes the VAs from the English dub and I prefer the game’s ENG dub...sorry...

This is a great anime, and the overall story deserves praise and whatnot. Amazing. But the last two episodes were disappointing to say the least. Before I saw them, this was definitely a 5star anime. That being said, even with the bad ending, I'd still recommend watching this anime

First off: this is the English Dub of a compressed animational adaptation of a Japanese Visual Novel that only had a fan translation when it came across the Pacific Ocean. As you can imagine, this takes its toll on the story, and no, this problem is not limited to only the dub. With its vast amount of characters to get emotionally invested into, this series needed twenty-six episodes. And none of the content would have been filler in any way. I'll also address the voices: with the exception of Bryce Papenbrook as Naegi, nobody reprises their roles. If you didn't like the English game voices, good news, you'll hear different ones. The dub actually does get better towards the end, however, the problem is that most of the cast is dead before the VAs actually get a chance to improve their voices. Clearly, the Japanese animation studio underestimated how devoted fanbases are to their franchises. Make a good product and the fanbase will defend you to the end of time. This was not a good product. Personally, I hope this 13 episode set ends up being the franchise's version of Yugioh Season0 with a much better adaptation coming along the way. (And not just for DR2 or Absolute Despair Girls, I mean the whole franchise from the beginning, characters from the original game have had more fleshed out about them.)
