Description

The story of a tempestuous and forbidden love affair between a young Englishman and a beautiful Iban tribeswoman. When John Truscott (Emmy Award-nominee Hugh Dancy "Black Hawk Down," "King Arthur") takes a job in the British colonial outpost of Sarawak, he is given a native servant; Selima (Golden Globe-nominee Jessica Alba "Sin City," "Fantastic Four") who teaches him the local language but also shares his bed. This accepted tradition is monitored closely by Johns crusty superior Henry Bullard (Acadeny Award-nominee Bob Hoskins "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," "Brazil") and his wife Aggie (Academy Award-nominee Brenda Blethyn "Atonement," "Pride & Prejudice") to ensure that no romantic attachments occur. When John and Selima fall openly and passionately in love, the colonial authorities and the native population turn against them unleashing a chain of events that test their resolve to the very limit.

This movie is one of my favourites! There is one word to describe this movie...BEAUTIFUL. It was well put together and beautifully crafted, the writers did a fantastic job, the director directing it, and the actors portraying the characters! Jessica Alba and Hugh dancy have the chemistry down, and delivered it to Truscott and Selima. I highly reccomend this movie, it was well worth the money I paid for it.

I just finished watching the movie and it was very good. It was filled with love, passion and drama. The main characters did a wonder job in there roles in the movie and it is a must see for anyone wanting to watch a movie about love and what people will do for happiness.

There is nothing new about this romance and you cannot appreciate it for being a classic. Definitely not worth buying, but you could rent it to watch on a rainy afternoon (if you've already seen all the good romances...)

Jessica Alba as an indian or a tribe lady was ridiculous. If I wanted to watch a white man with an indian love story than I would have seen Pocahontas. IT SUCKED!!!!

This movie was ok, maybe I'm missing something that everyone else sees. Jessica Alba is BEAUTIFUL, but she kinda crapped on that role. She didn't make that character real, her stance was that of a girl with an attitude instead of a village girl (she has the same stance on the cover of the Ocean Blue) and she sometimes rolled her head. It's as if she did not look at the mannerisms of the other villagers to take a hint as to how she should carry herself. And the fake blood. The story was sweet, that's for sure and I felt compassion for the redeeming characters. I wouldn't recommend this, but to each his/her own.

I hope everyone knows that Jessica alba's nude scene doesn't show her nude body. it was her body double.
