I was an extra in this movie but I had no idea what it was about at the time. I'll admit it was a well made movie but not something I'd recommend watching unless your into this sort of over intense drama stuff. It was scary in a non-horror way.

By other reviews I thought this movie would be amazing. Turns out to have over-the-top and unrealistic situations. This is nothing more than a movie you'd watch once and overlook in the future. The cover looks good though :-)
  • Dramatic, but a disgusting ending.

A film about 12-year olds- but certainly NOT appropriate for children to watch. The ending is disgusting. I have no way to explain this to my child so this film goes to the trash.

This movie hits every angle of teenage and parenting life. From joyous to distressing and occasionally heartbreaking. The movie covers a wide spectrum of human reactions to distress during one of the most influential times of our lives. This is the point in life at which we feel directionless and make emotional decisions. 12 and Holding portrays that while keeping the viewer wondering fully engaged. And it will surprise you until the end. I have watched it over 5 times and love it every time. Very fitting soundtrack also.
  • A remarkable film...

As a frequent consumer of independent films, I have to say this is one of the best I have ever seen. Having enjoyed the director's last film (L.I.E.), I had high expectations for this film. I was not disappointed. This film realistically speaks to a variety of the more serious issues faced by adolescents, and reminds us how prematurely children are projected into an adult world. The film was well-written, and the young cast was remarkable in their portrayals. While the message of this film is direct and strong, I disagree with reviews that call this film dark. This film was outstanding, and well worth every penny spent. A film that gets better each time I've watched it.
