Azaelea is excellent in this movie. It's a true feel good coming of age story. There's simply no argument there. This is like the closest you'll get to a film like Eminem's 8 Mile that features a Black female lead. Of course with similar celebrity bad behavior, Eminem actually got he industry support to market 8 Mile - and an Oscar :/ The only hesitation I had for giving 5 stars was for the shortcomings in the films writing & ultimately RZA's direction, but of course even with those overall minor shortcomings, Coco Ford makes something out of nothing. That's much of the movies theme, Azaelea's character making something out of very little - great film for young women.

The movie had a good story line that was both easy to follow and clever enough that you end up being surprised at the outcomes of many scenes. I was a little skeptical of this movie since i tend to see a lot of movies with musicians or musical influences that come off tacky, with horrible acting and story telling; Iโ€™m glad to say thatโ€™s not the case here. Azealia did a great performance and her supporting actors were world class. I found it incredibly charming and adorable at how closely Cocoa resembles the conscious, hilarious, and opinionated Azealia Banks. I ended up falling in love with this movie. Watch it!

Saw this in theaters and I absolutely loved it. Azealia Banks is a star in her own right and has definitely proved it with this film. I didn't expect such a believable performance at first, but I was blown away. The direction of the movie seemed a bit uninspired, but a few of the actors carried the whole film in spite of that. I wish it received its due promotion, however. I only caught wind of this film through a post on instagram on my explore feedโ€ฆ meaning I most likely would have never heard of it any other way. Didn't see any of the other stars posting about it either, except for one or two including Azealia. Great film if you want something good, entertaining and quick!

I definitely recommend this movie if youโ€™re a fan of rapping and/or poetry. It was an interesting story that we usually donโ€™t get to see. Azealia Banks definitely carries this movie. Iโ€™m now feening to see her on the screen more. The script is trash high key. And Jill Scott was low key cringeworthy, but it was fun watching.
