Description

This heroic action-thriller is based on the extraordinary true story of the greatest small-boat rescue in Coast Guard history. In 1952, a massive winter storm strikes off the coast of Cape Cod, ripping a T-2 oil tanker in half and trapping more than 30 sailors inside its rapidly sinking stern. When word of the disaster reaches the U.S. Coast Guard, four men led by Captain Bernie Webber (Chris Pine) set out in a 12-seat boat on a daring mission to rescue the stranded men, braving freezing cold, 60-foot waves and hurricane-force winds, and guided by Webber’s vow that “We all live, or we all die.” Packed with thrilling, larger-than-life action and anchored in a belief in the strength of the human spirit, The Finest Hours is a triumph.

This movie is stupid. On all levels. Acting terrible CGI terrible Continuity non existent It’s snowing blizzard throughout the movie yet the characters hair etc don’t move like they’re in a blizzard. Characters apparently don’t get cold in this movie even after being completely drenched in sea water in a blizzard. The life boat completely submerges several times and the characters are still wearing their beanies. At one part the hatch is open and never fills the boat while underwater. This movie is like speed 2. Completely and utter garbage on all levels of production.

I really enjoyed this movie and looked up the book and story it was based on. Truly remarkable. I thought the visuals were outstanding and the story flowed perfectly. Chris Pine does an exceptional job in portraying a reluctant and noble hero in a reticent everyman. I am surprised there was not a nomination for his work in this film. And the accent, spot on. Chris Pine 🏆🥇 The visuals of the ocean are incredible. Getting a view you never really could in the moment. People sometimes get down on all the effects in movies, but in this instance is where the effects truly enhance and show what it was like in a way that live action just could not achieve.🌊

Much better than I expected, and I expected it to be good. Well done, with excellent storm scenes, and great drama. The cast was well-placed in their roles, and did great work. The criticsand other reviewers who complained about the plot, etc. must be truly jaded cynics. Enjoy the truth in it, and read about the historical event.

The movie is a good story and true. When making the movie, men on the life boat didn't have ice hanging from their face and wasn't shivering but was a true story and I'm glad the movie was made. I'll buy on iTunes later. The story had to be told to tell the world what happened. Even though it wasn't accurate. Just little details.
