Parenthood is a great and funny movie. It really sheds light on the issues of teenagers today and the parents that are raising teenagers.

There is no way Ron Howard was not drawing from personal experiences. Going through raising my children, school, boyfriends, girlfriends, fights, the money, the heartaches, the worries at night, weddings and wondering if they will make it in the real world - it all seems like chaos while going through it. But after getting through it and looking back, everything was perfect and seems like a finely crafted novel.
  • Should be watched once before you get married and once after you are married with children

The first time I ever watched this movie, I wasn’t married. I enjoyed it then, but only as an entertaining comedy. Fast-forward several years later and I’m married with three children. I enjoyed this movie even more, because now as a parent, I could really relate to many of situations depicted in this film.

Another terrific comedy from Ron Howard that also occasionally packs a potent dramatic punch. While it deals with pitfalls of being a mother, father or grandparent, it is really a celebration of family and how loved ones can get you through the toughest times in your life. In addition to acclaimed actors like Steve Martin, Jason Robards and Diane Weist among others, it also features early appearances from future Hollywood superstars Keanu Reeves and Joaquin Phoenix. From the writers of Night Shift and City Slickers.

GREAT movie!! There are so many great lines in this movie. Grandma's roller coaster story is the BEST!! A must see for anyone with kids or about to have kids.

The film clip for this movie that they have here on iTunes does it ABSOLUTELY no justice at all. From the first time I saw this, more than 10 years ago, until this day, it has been one of my favorite movies. It will make you laugh, cry, drop your jaw in awe, and wonder how on earth you survived the raising of your children. It probably portrays, in a comical way, the utter roller coaster ride of parenthood, better than any other film made. It's highly underrated and hasn't gotten near the attention it deserves. I've probably watched it 10 times over the past 10 years. I'm delighted to find it here on iTunes so that I can finally buy it. To think of all the money I would have saved if I'd have found it here before. Silly me.

This movie changed my life. It taught me that as a parent I could either try to control everyone including myself or allow myself to enjoy my family and the chaos inherent in family life. I re-watch in often for a refresher course. Watch it if you find yourself managing your children, your family and your life rather than enjoying them.
