Description

See the story behind a shocking fall from grace. Al Pacino and director Barry Levinson ('You Don't Know Jack') reteam in a compelling portrait of legendary Penn State head-football coach Joe Paterno as his much-heralded career goes down in the flames of the infamous Jerry Sandusky sexual-abuse scandal. Set over the course of two weeks in late 2011, the film focuses not only on Paterno (Pacino) and his family, but also on Sara Ganim (Riley Keough), the 23-year-old reporter and Penn State grad who broke the story. As the case plays out in the headlines, Paterno learns of his lung cancer, which would soon claim his life.

Piece of crap film made from lies and speculation. Al Pacino must be getting to the point in his career where good roles are hard to find. Just like the media used Paterno as the scape goat so does HBO. Why didn’t they do the movie on Jerry Sandusky or the victims? Instead they pick the only person who was known by everyone. They didn’t do the story on Graham Spanier because no one would have watched or bought it. No one knew he was the president of Penn State but everyone knew or heard of Joe Paterno. Don’t waste your money you already saw the media’s version play out.

Saw a critic say it leaves you thinking when the credits roll - yeah, I was thinking why I wasted the time for something to come of the movie. Nothing new, very slow, just terrible. One of those things you watch and wonder how people put money into making it a movie.
  • Al Pacino at his best in “Paterno”

Don’t pay any attention to all of the negative reviews on here. People are quick to forget that this film is NOT a documentary, but it is a dramatization of the crucial events that took place during a 2 weeks period in Paterno’s life as the sex abuse scandal broke. The film is very well executed and has great pacing and I feel shows all of the different angles at play. Pacino delivers an amazing performance, and is able to both demonize and humanize Paterno all without going for any clear agenda. Very good film!

I was really interested in watching this, hoping to learn Paterno’s perspective. The director seems to be have taken that literally. It is confusing and fuzzy and seems to come straight from his 85 year old mind. The order of the movie is confusing. Paterno (Pacino) fumbles, mumbles and stutters his way through the performance. Really terrible.

No research was done to write the script. They just wrote down what the garbage the news channels were saying in their attempts to boost their ratings. Don’t waste your time watching this crap. This is the worst film that Al Pacino was in.
