  • It's Perfect...and that's the problem

The movie is perfectly written, perfectly directed, and perfectly acted. In fact, it's perfectly executed. And, I guess that's why I was less than satisfied. There was nothing messy about a movie that covers a messy topic. Too polished for me.

We're struggling in very difficult times on a political stage. This film heals my faith that the 'system' will succeed and we will overcome the tragedies in todays war on the media - and on our Republic. Although we're facing what feels like 10x the amount of governmental terrors - this movie keeps it in perspective and allows us to breath a sigh of relief - knowing, that all is well...and this too shall pass - provided we all stand up for what's right and what's right for our Constitution. Bravo to the entire cast for letting me laugh in such dark days of fear and hopelessness. Activism on every level is a success, and Meryl did it again!!!

There have been so many docudramas over the years that provide a twisted and often false take on history and that people take at face value. It is nice to have a film that presents an honest, unbiased look at important historical events. All the President's Men is one and The Post is another. A clearly special aspect of The Post is the realistic depiction of Catherine Graham's rise from being an untested woman in a man's world to becoming a powerful and respected icon in the news business. (If you want more, read her massive autobiography.) In this, Streep offers an amazing performance, as does Hanks. This is a film that should be required viewing for high school kids. It is not just a story about politics but about the nature and importance of ethics. To be very frank, there are a lot of people out there who are not up to viewing an intelligent, carefully paced film - people with short attention spans and who cannot identify with people whose traits include diligence, tenacity, or the willingness to go the distance for a matter of principle - viewers who want spoon-fed entertainment. For them, they should look elsewhere. Perhaps a sexy brain-banging shoot-em-up would be a better choice.

I’ve noticed 99% of the reviews are politically based, not about the movie. I personally thought this movie was incredibly boring, I get the freedom of the press narrative, but the movie was not good.

This movie is a masterpiece. A job well done by all of the actors. A time period and true story piece that is done so well. An empowering story of a women trying to keep a company afloat amidst all the chaos.

First, I gotta say that any movie that starts out with The Creedence as the opening song of the soundtrack is fabulous, as well as setting the perfect tone for this film’s timeframe. Having said that, this movie is well-directed & well-acted by an outstanding cast. More importantly, this movie accurately portrays what occurred during this time & does not sugarcoat the history of the events, clearly showing that both Democrat & Republican administrations were involved in the beginning & the escalation of the war. I’m old enough to remember the subject matter & watched the tragedy of the Vietnam War being shown on out black & white TV. The publishing of the Pentagon Papers was a huge deal, for our young men in the military, for our nation & for the freedom of the press. All in all, this is a fine film depicting a very important part of America’s history 👍👍👍
